The Art of Storytelling

A storyteller can conquer her audience or readers upon performing or writing a story that are expected from the storyteller, if not, you as a storyteller lost your eager audience or readers respectively.

The source of the story
The use of the Internet information has been a huge help to all of us, any ages, any professions, and to the rest of other Internet customers that use it. I became a big fan of the Internet since it started, especially in the late 90’s. It becomes a great source of most current information for me. I learnt a lot from the Internet, probably more than I learnt from the books and other reading materials I purchased and borrowed from the library. During my own time, I will read blogs and visit sites that give me current and on time information that I need for any particular purpose. I even created 48 e-newspapers with the help of Paper.li app to save time in finding relevant and current good reading materials and relevant information for my purpose, and at the same time share them with other like-minded readers. Not only that it gives me the joy of reading but also, it encouraged me to be like them, as writers and enjoy the fun of storytelling.

The audience or the readers
Each reader has their own type of audience. For example, a person who is involved in the fashion industry, the audience or readers expect to read about fashion, and better yet, the fashion model that is involved.  However, sometimes fate and situation changed, and most of the time for the best of that person, the fashion model. So as an audience or readers we have to accept the fact and move on, and concentrate on reading something that is as much as entertaining than we previously expected. This is when the art of storytelling becomes more exciting.

My experience
To become a better storyteller, you have to be a good reader as well. As a reader, I like to read story, or other reading materials that are based on facts. I guess that came from having an accounting background, everything from number crunching to taxes, auditing, law, and related business topics based on facts. I am more of a storyteller that likes to write basing my story on facts. I hope you are that kind of readers too.  If accounting and taxes topics are not for you, not to worry, I won’t be writing in this blog, these topics will be written in another blog.

Recently, I started a series of blogs that enhance my gift of storytelling. Most of them are based on my own experiences, other related parties, public and general knowledge. Also, while I am telling the story, I will insert relevant photos, videos (if available), and related links to make it more exciting to the readers, and make the story more sense. I tried to write in plain English as much as possible, for easier reading and understanding, for all types of readers.

Just a little advice though, don’t overload your blog or site with too much of ads, take it easy on them, having a lot of them will likely take away the readers interest on what you wrote.

Each storyteller has his/her own style and philosophy, mine is, “If I like and enjoy writing and reading my own story, like-minded readers will enjoy it too.” Hopefully, you are one of them, and even start your own storytelling, start a blog like this one, with a topic that you enjoy writing and reading as well. Good luck.

The following are just a few of the hundreds of the photos I took during our last trip at Tukwila's Starfire Soccer Tourney:

Just entering the US Border in Blaine - 2011
The Embassy, the hotel we stayed at.
Starfire, the soccer field for the tourney.
Famous Dave, great for barbeque ribs.
Westwood Mall, Tukwila.
Connection, in-mall library at Westwood.

Last day of 4 days soccer tourney at Starfire, Tukwila, Washington.

Soccer family. The 3 people in the middle is my son, daughter & their dad.

On our way home, entering the Canadian Border, Blaine, Washington.

The following are pictures taken from that trip to Westwood Mall, Tukwila. I thought it would be nice to share it with you, especially for young families who have smaller kids. A short Christmas story for little ones.

Hope you have a nice Christmas this year.
